Yarn Yarn and more Yarn: Confessions of a Yaraholic!

"Here Goes Nothing I'm taking a chance"~ Daniel Nahmod. These words as sung by one of my oldest and dearest friends explain exactly what was going through my head when I decided to start my company Foggy Sheep Creations back in 2012 as well as starting this blog. I have never done anything like this before. It almost feels like I am stepping off a cliff ready to fly along with my new endevor. Here is the story of how I started..

Hi my Name is Patty and I am a true Yarnaholic! I love yarn more than I love anythingother than my friends and family. I am fascinated by the different colors, textures, fibers and weights of yarn. I love that there are unlimited possibilities to keep my friends and  loved ones warm and stylish while expressing my creative side. I started knitting and crocheting in December of 2009. I started because I wanted to make a baby blanket for the first Grandchild of one of my best friends. From the first moment that I set foot into Joann's to buy yarn, I was hooked. Two months later, I discovered  my local yarn store, Babetta's. This was the most amazing place to me. The store is about the size of a Walgreens except it is filled floor to ceiling with many shelves of yarn. Every color and type of yarn that you can possibly imagine.

Let's fast forward to August of 2012. I was visiting my hometown of Eureka, California to attend the funeral service of my favorite teacher from high school. I spent the whole weekend connecting with old friends, visiting my niece and nephews, walking in the redwoods and on the beach, and of course buying yarn from local Humboldt County yarn shops. Foggy Sheep Creations was born on this trip when I was walking on the beach early one morning. I was walking on the beach  early one foggy morning contemplating what new directions I wanted to take my life in when I had this thought : " how great would it be to start a knitting business where I can do what I love and make a few dollars for more yarn". I returned to Sacramento after that trip and immediately started my ETSY shop and signed up for 4 fall craft fairs... The Sheep part of my name was chosen because my  staple yarn, wool, comes from sheep and I came up with the idea on a foggy morning.

I mostly sold hats and cowls to my family and friends at first. But this year my business really started to take off when I started to sell at my local farmers markets and taking special orders.. I will try to keep up with this blog weekly, so everyone will know what I am creating and what events I am a part of. Please feel free to email me at foggysheepcreations@hotmail.com or call/text me at (530)300-7643 with any special order inquiries. I will be able to create a custom order on my ETSY shop for anything you would like..

Thanks for reading my inaugural set of rambling!
